Rocket attack on police van leaves five cops dead in Dera Ismail Khan

DIKHAN— Five policemen were martyred and four injured in a rocket attack on a police van in Dera Ismail Khan, police confirmed Monday night.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fazal Subhan and Station House Officer (SHO) are among the wounded officers.

According to the details, the DSP Fazal Subhan was going back from the Kulachi area when a group of terrorists attacked the protocol with heavy weapons and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher (RPG 7).

As result of rocket attack, 10 police officers suffered multiple bullet injuries and one of the cops embraced martyrdom on the spot while four of the cops succumbed to injuries. The attackers fled the scene following the attack.

The deceased officers have been identified as Abdul Rehman, Kamran, Jamshed, Niaz Ali and Munawar.

A heavy contingent of police rushed to the crime scene and cordoned off the area. The search operation in the area to arrest attackers is currently underway.
Earlier in the month, three terrorists had been killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by the security forces in DI Khan.

The IBO had been conducted in the Kulachi area of DI Khan on the reported presence of terrorists.

During intense exchange of fire, three terrorists had been killed. Weapons and ammunition had also been recovered from the killed terrorists, the spokesperson added.

Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area.
