PESHAWAR—- Gun is not for fun or posing. Posting pictures with guns on social media can land you in jail.
The Peshawar police arrested five people for posting pictures on Facebook with guns, police said on Monday.
As per details, social media teams of Shahpur Police Station and Mathura Police Station found and traced accused on social media with guns status.
In the pictures, accused, identified as Osama, Amir Ali, Akhtar Ali Shah, Waqas and Javed. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted raids and arrested them from different parts of the capital.
The police social media team identified and traced the accused after they posted pictures of themselves posing with guns on Facebook, said police.
During the riads, police also recovered two Kalashnikovs and four pistols from the possession of the accused. Cases were registered against them, the police said, adding that they are being interrogated. Police, however, didn’t disclosed that whether seized arms were licensed or not, and the accused were have criminal record.
According to police, campaign against show off weapons and aerial firing will continue to discourage arms culture.
The police action was the part of the special campaign against the elements involved in displaying weapons at public places and social events. In the campaign, the police also targeting those who upload pictures with weapons on social media.
Special banners have been hung on the police station buildings by the police to inform the citizens about the damages caused by aerial firing.
