Providing compensation to war-affected traders is govt's responsibility: CM Mehmood

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehmood Khan said on Friday that providing compensation to the business community affected during operations against militants in tribal districts is not a favour but a responsibility of the government.
According to a statement issued from the CM’s Secretariat, a delegation of businessmen met with Chief Minister in Mir Ali and thanked him for the approval of compensation for affected traders of Mir Ali Bazar.
It may be recalled that Rs 2809.328 million has been approved to pay compensation to the victims of Mir Ali Bazar during the recent cabinet meeting.
Chief Minister directed for speedy steps to ensure payment of compensation to 3706 traders of Mirali and also to provide relief to the victims of Miran Shah on a priority basis. He said that the provincial government is working to remove the 70-year-old depravity of tribal districts.
The Chief Minister said that his government was taking steps to increase commercial and industrial activities in the tribal districts. He also added loans are being to the tribal youth to make them stand on their feet.
He directed the concerned authorities to simplify the loan disbursement process so that deserving youths could benefit from this scheme in a timely and efficient manner. The Chief Minister also urged the Cabinet Committee to resolve the problems of the business community of Miran Shah Bazar as soon as possible.
Provincial Minister for Communications and Construction Akbar Ayub Khan, Law Minister Sultan Mohammad Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister, Ajmal Wazir, MPA Iqbal Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shahab Ali Shah and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
The delegation of the business community was include head of Mir Ali traders Union Zaheen Ullah, General Secretary Muktiyar Ayub, Insaf Students Federation President Allama Iqbal, Tahir Dawar, Mohammad Feroz and Rashid Ullah.
