Landmine blasts leaves four dead, eight injured in North, South Waziristan

MIRANSHAH— At least four persons including two children were lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries in two separate landmine blasts in North and South Waziristan tribal districts.

In the first incident that occurred in Birmal area of South Waziristan near the Pak-Afghan border killed four persons including two children and injured six others.

According to locals, the deceased who belonged to Gangikhel sub-tribe of Wazir tribe were going to an orchard of chilgoza (pine nuts) when their vehicle hit a roadside landmine. The injured were taken to Dera Ismail Khan district headquarter hospital.

The second landmine blast happened in Dangin area of North Waziristan in which two security personnel were injured. The injured security men were identified as Zahid and Hidayat. The injured soldiers were immediately taken to hospital.

The security forces cordoned off the entire area after the blast and launched a search operation. However, no arrest was made during the search operation.
