MIRANSHAH: At least six security personnel were martyred in a cross border attack by militants along the border with Afghanistan in Shawal tehsil of North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday.
The military media wing-Inter Service of Public Relation (ISPR), through a statement informed that the militants attacked a patrolling party of security forces in Gurbaz area, near to Pak-Afghan border, due to at least six soldiers were killed. They were identified as Lance Naik Khalid, soldier Naveed, Mariza Babar, Bachal Khan, Ali Raza and Ihsan Abbas.
The local sources said the incident happened near the Pak-Afghan border. Soon after attack, security forces reached the spot immediately and went on search operation in the area. However, no arrests were made till filing of this report. No banned outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Due to lacking of media access, confirmation of these reports from impartial sources is impossible.
Despite completion of a military operation Zarb-e-Azb, launched in June 2014 against militants in North Waziristan, security forces often come under attack as terrorists still have presence in some patches.
Couple of days back, several personnel of security forces were injured in similar attacks at two different places of North and South Waziristan.
