KHYBER— All Teacher Association (ATA) Khyber district initiated a protest rally in Jamrud on Tuesday seeking service promotion for teacher community.
Large number of teachers from across the district holding placards inscribed with slogans in their favor and chanting against Khyber District Education Officer (DEO).
The protester suspended the Pak-Afghan highway in front of the DEO office in Jamrud by burning tires and put blockades at the road.
Speaking on the occasion ATA leaders said that services promotion had been granted to teachers in 2018 in all tribal districts but due to lack of interest of DEO of Khyber, Mr Jadoon Wazir, teachers of the area were deprived of the right that was step mother behavior to them.
They blamed that DEO had violated Departmental Promotion Criteria (DPC) and adopted policy of favoritism, saying more than half million rupees, allocated for teacher capacity building trainings had been usurped by the allegedly corrupt official.
“Because of lack of interest of DEO, free books and other necessities has not been provided to majority of students of state – run schools which suffers their studies, they remarked and adding the mentioned official always support indutiful ,ghost teachers and always ignores honest and dutiful teachers”.
ATA office bearers demanded of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sectary education, director education to replace the corrupt DEO with honest and efficient officer or they would have no option but to lock-down the education office till fulfillment of the demands after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Meanwhile clearing process resumed at Torkham border after successful dialog between custom officials and the clearing agent association,Torkham.
Both the stakeholders were agreed that till 10th day of Eid-ul fitr,clearing process would resumed as old process and after it one good declaration form,one truck policy would implemented for clearing process at the border
