PESHAWAR – Traditions of fastening on two different days in the country resumed after a break of one year when Khateeb of historical Masjid Qasam Ali Khan late on Sunday night declared May 6th (Monday) as first day of Ramazan Ul Mubarak.
Mufti Shahab Ud Din Populzal had made the announcement in presence of several other ulema and religious scholars late on Sunday night on the grounds of 22 eye sighting reports. Amongst these people Mufti Attique Ullah a religious figure from Brelvi School of thoughts, associated with federal religious affairs minister Pir Noor Ul Haq Qadri’s Jamaat Ahli Sunnat.
While announcing the decision, Mufti Shahab Ud Din Popalzai has criticized the Central Roet Hilal Committee for making decisions on the grounds of weather reports instead of waiting for the moon sighting reports and evidences. He claimed that since a long all decisions of Masjid Qasam Ali Khan is announced/made in according to Quran wa Sunna.
In the light of Muft Shahab Ud Din Popalzai announcement, partial fastening was reported from almost of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Central Roet Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneeb Ur Rahman has declared May 7th (Tuesday) as first day of Ramadan.
