Khogakhel tribe seeks reopening of Torkham Adda

LANDIKOTAL: The Khogakhel tribe of Landikotal in Khyber Agency on Tuesday held a Jirga to condemn the closure of Torkham Adda (vehicles terminal) and demanded its reopening.

The Jirga, which was held at a local mosque, formed a five-member committee of Ashrafkhel, Basikhel and Fatmikhel residents which will resolve the dispute of Torkham Adda. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) general secretary for FATA chapter Mufti Ijaz Shinwari and other elders said while addressing the Jirga that the closure of Torkham Qaumi Adda has left a number of people jobless. They asked the administration to resolve the issue of Adda within two days, otherwise, they will stage protests. They said they are not against giving the contract of the Adda to the old contractor.

Torkham Tehsildar Shamsul Islam, who also attended the Jirga, assured the elders to resolve the issue within two days. The Adda was closed by the administration six months ago after a monitory dispute surfaced among the members of Khogakhel tribe.
