Five women killed as house collapses in Peshawar

PESHAWAR— At least five women were killed and two children were injured as the roof of their house collapsed on them in Tahkal area of the provincial capital ​​Peshawar on Wednesday.

The house in the Inqilab Colony of Tahkal area collapsed due to incessant rain last week which had rotted the house, according to the police. The family was sleeping inside when the roof of the house collapsed, added police.

According to rescue teams the roof of the house had rotted after rain, however, on Tuesday night, the roof of the house and the adjoining wall suddenly fell on the occupants of the house. As result, five women were killed and two children were injured in the accident.

Soon after the incident, rescue 1122 and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved five dead bodies from debris.

The dead bodies and injured were taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital where condition of the injured stated stable.

According to police, the dead included mother and four daughters. the occupants of the house were Afghan refugees, whose bodies after legal formalities will be shifted to Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
