PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government on Friday inaugurated 2.6 Mega Watt Machai Hydro Power Station at District Mardan which had formally started production of electricity and would contribute 14 Giga Watt of electricity to National Grid Station.
Secretary Energy and Power Department Engineer Naeem Khan inaugurated Machai Hydro Power Station in a ceremony at village Alai, District Mardan, which besides others was attended by experts from energy sector and authorities of German and Pakistan companies working in the project.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Energy and Power Naeem Khan said Machai Hydro Power Project was started with the assistance of Asian Development Bank at Machai Canal System District Mardan as a pilot project to boost investment.
He added that soon 17 Mega Watt Ranolia Hydro Power project and 36.6 Mega Watt Daral Khwar Hydro Power Project would also be inaugurated. He hoped the mentioned projects in energy sector would prove a milestone for the development of provincial economy.
He congratulated contractor, company, consultant, Project Director and other members of the Machai Hydro Power Project and hoped that the completion of the project would start a new era of development in the area and new opportunities of employment would be available.
